On June 25, 1892 the “Corazón de Jesús” Hospice was founded thanks to the financial contribution of Manuel Galecio and the lands donated by Mr. Francisco Aguirre Jado. It has been run by the Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil since its founding. This hospice provides the elderly with a peaceful and serene living environment where order, hygiene and care prevail. Philanthropists from Guayaquil have truly done something meaningful, by creating a place where the elderly are cared for during such a difficult time caused by aging and loneliness. This hospice is home to 383 elderly people and has 500 beds. |
