| JBG to build modern medical tower in Luis Vernaza Hospital |

![]() The Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil will begin the construction of a medical tower that will hold 180 doctors offices for private patient care, at a low cost, within Luis Vernaza Hospital. The new building will be located where the hospital parking lot currently is.
Rodolfo Rendón, head architect, stated that the building will be cover 24,000 square meters, have eighteen floors, sixteen above ground and two below for a parking area for four hundred vehicles. The construction will include medical offices, a commercial area for medical products and instruments and a food court. The doctors with offices in the tower will be able to use the hospital facilities and state-of-the-art technology. “The idea is to modernize the hospital infrastructure and offer better service to patients,” stated the inspector of the hospital, Dr. Werner Moeller, who added that “we have decided to move the hospital’s Outpatient Services to this building as well.” The project, which was studied during an entire year, may also include accommodations for patients’ family members who live outside of Guayaquil. Construction is expected to begin next December and be completed in two years time.
