Government Makes Donation for Construction of New Maternity Hospital

The Minister of Health in Ecuador, Caroline Chang, signed an agreement with the Director of the JBG, Dr. Paolo Marangoni, to give 5 million dollars for the construction of a maternity hospital in Guayaquil. The agreement includes free care for patients referred by public health institutions.

The new hospital will form part of the new Alejandro Mann hospital complex, together with the Dr. Roberto Gilbert Elizalde Childrens Hospital. The total cost is 35 million dollars.

Dr. Fabrizio Delgado, First Ecuadorian AMP Representative

Fabricio Delgado, MD. Dr. Fabricio Delgado, Technical Director of the Lorenzo Ponce Psychiatric Hospital of the JBG, was named representative of the Latin American Zone IV of the World Association of Psychiatry (AMP), in Prague. It is the first time an Ecuadorian psychiatrist receives this internacional appointment.
