For over one hundred and twenty years, Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil has earned and maintained a high reputation for service and solidarity among the needy population of Ecuador.

Healthcare is the Junta’s most prominent service, provided through its own facilities:

• Luis Vernaza General Hospital, with 950 beds.
• Enrique C. Sotomayor Gynecologic and Obstetrics Maternity Hospital, with 370 beds.
• Lorenzo Ponce Psychiatric Hospital, with 1060 beds.
• Roberto Gilbert Children’s Hospital, with 360 beds

ISO 9001 Certified

The Luis Vernaza General Hospital was the first healthcare facility in Ecuador to be awarded the ISO 9001:2000 International Certification. Similar certifications have also been awarded to the hospitals: Enrique C Sotomayor Gynecologic and Obstetric Maternity Hospital, Roberto Gilbert Children’s Hospital and Lorenzo Ponce Psychiatric Hospital, meaning that all the Junta’s health centers comply with international standards for quality management systems.

We are particularly committed to promoting health services to the communities’ most vulnerable population. We also provide appropriate care for the needy, the sick, the homeless, orphans, the aged, the handicapped as well as the mentally disabled.

We have a long-term relationship with the medical schools of Guayaquil’s largest universities.
