 Milena Apolinario, from the canton of Libertad, entered the orphanage Hogar Calderón Ayluardo when she was six years old due to a difficult home situation. Her mother, an illegal immigrant from Colombia, was pregnant, and her father had passed away. Her family did not have the economic means to adequately support Milena and her younger sister. This girl’s home, run by the Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil, granted Milena a place to live, as well as food, clothing and education in a private school in Guayaquil. She also received constant spiritual guidance from the nuns at the orphanage congregation.

 These were the words of 62 year old María Ramirez, who entered with a terminal Dilated Cardiophaty to the Vernaza Hospital, and who has recovered favorable in less than a week after receiving an implant for her disease. The problem with my health began three years ago, and day by day I felt that my life was extinguishing. I begged so much to God to give me a miracle of life, and that’s what he did. If we really have faith He goes beyond our expectations. |

 These are the words of 67 years old Rosa Villacís, who had implanted a cardio fibrillation three months ago, in Luis Vernaza’s Hospital, because she suffered of ventricular tachycardia and a severe arrhythmia that ended in a severe homodynamic deterioration and syncope. I never felt anything, reason why I didn’t go to the Hospital, but suddenly I began to suffocate. I only remember entering the Hospital with a strong arrhythmia, and they gave me an electroshock and morphine to soothe the pain. |

 Only 9 years old and suffering cerebral palsy, Guillermito wants to live like a normal child and strives to achieve it. At the beginning of 2008, his mother, Marisol Ordóñez, requested the Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil a wheelchair to take him to the regular school he attends and also to the neurologic rehabilitation center where he receives therapy. |
