The Minister of Health in Ecuador, Caroline Chang, signed an agreement with the Director of the JBG, Dr. Paolo Marangoni, to give 5 million dollars for the construction of a maternity hospital in Guayaquil. The agreement includes free care for patients referred by public health institutions.
The new hospital will form part of the new Alejandro Mann hospital complex, together with the Dr. Roberto Gilbert Elizalde Childrens Hospital. The total cost is 35 million dollars.
The building is scheduled to be completed within three years, after which the Enrique C. Sotomayor Gyneco-Obstetric Hospital will become a general care hospital. The new maternity hospital will have 600 nurses, 420 doctors, 414 beds, 252 cribs, 21 operating rooms, 12 delivery rooms and 26 doctor offices. *Pictured in the photo: Dr. Fernando Gómez, Ing.
