![]() The Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil and the Congregation of the Dominican Sisters of Betania signed an agreement of cooperation by which the Congregation will begin to administer the Manuel Galecio Home for Girls, run by the JBG, in Alausí.
The agreement, signed on August 12th, designates Sister Rosa Amada Ortiz as mother superior of the home. The Manuel Galecio Home was built in 1951. It is currently home to more than 100 low-income girls, orphans from dysfunctional families, who have received scholarships and are supported by the JBG. The girls at the home receive, free of charge, room, board, primary and secondary education, and spiritual guidance. “Aware of the great social work that the JBG does for these girls, we would like to help through our teachings, and we would like to accompany these girls during their human, Christian and moral growth,” said Sister Bertha Amaya, Superior General of the Congregation.
