
He is a member of the Civic Board of Guayaquil, Chairman of the Board of HOLCIM Ecuador S.A., President of MABE Ecuador S.A. and DUREXPORTA C.A. He is the former Vice-President of the Board of Directors of Banco de Guayaquil, as well as President of the Chamber of Industries of Guayaquil.
Mr. Orrantia was Director of Fundación Ecuador and Private Advisor on behalf of the Private Sector of the Ecuadorian Delegation to the meetings of the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and the Andean Community of Nations.
He graduated as Agricultural Engineer in the Instituto Superieur O’ Otremer in France.He was given the Atahualpa Merit Award by the Ecuadorian Armed Forces, the Institucional Merit Award of the Chamber of Commerce of Guayaquil and the Recognition to his Merits by the Municipality of Guayaquil.
He is the First Vice-Director of the Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil since 2001.
He was the former Second Vice-Director of this institution, from 1993 to 2001. He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Asociación Pro Bienestar de la Familia Ecuatoriana, APROFE (Association in Favor of the Welfare of the Ecuadorian Families).
He has received numerous awards, among them “Merit on Public Health”, National Recognition and “Medal as Knight Commander”, Award for Scientific Merits by the Municipality of Guayaquil. He is also the author of more than 50 books and publications.
He is the Second Vice-Director of the Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil, a position he has held since 2006.
In the past he held numerous public and private positions: Member of the Negotiation Team for the Free Trade Agreement Negotiations (FTAA) –USA AND ECUADOR, Director of the Study Commissions for the Development of the Rio Guayas Basin, President of the CENAIM-ESPOL Foundation. He was appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ecuador before the Federal Republic of Germany and is Director and Founder of the Banco Bolivariano de Guayaquil.
He received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa, granted by the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (Polytechnic University of the Coast) in 1998 and the Grand Cross for Merit with Sash and Star granted by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2003.
